About Jinette Comeau

I’m a Sociologist whose research uses advanced quantitative methods to better understand how inequalities in children’s health and development can be reduced at a population level.

I hold a PhD in Sociology from Western University (2015), and completed my postdoctoral training in Psychiatric Epidemiology at McMaster University’s Offord Centre for Child Studies (2015-2018), where I was and continue to be a member of the 2014 Ontario Child Health Study research team.

I’m an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at King’s University College, an affiliate of Western University. I also hold two appointments at Western University: Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology and Associate Scientist at the Children’s Health Research Institute, a program of Lawson Health Research Institute.

My research is funded through the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council and Children’s Health Research Institute. I have published widely on children’s health and development, with my research appearing in Social Science and Medicine, Social Psychiatry and Psychiatric Epidemiology, Canadian Medical Association Journal, Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry, and Canadian Journal of Psychiatry. I’m the recipient of the Early Career Excellence in Research Award at King’s University College (2022).
